Lithuanian postcards, "A man who is seated with his left arm resting on an ornamental table"

Portrait photograph of a man who is seated with his left arm resting on an ornamental table. This 'Cabinet card' was taken by P. Piotrowicz of Kovno (Kaunas), Lithuania. In 1877 Piotras Simonas Piotrovičius bought a photographic workshop in Kaunas , which at the time was located in the Nikolajaus prospect. He made a contract with A. Strausas, who was a famous portraitist and a pioneer of fine-art and theatre photography in Lithuania. Piotrovičius was allowed to use the title of "Strausas Company" for a substantial fee and his photo studio thrived. During nine months of 1877 his studio carried out 1400 orders.
