Blieden Family, "Compensation to Julius"

Typed affidavit regarding compensation for losses incurred during the Anglo Boer War, by Julius (Yehuda) Blieden, dated 28th May 1901. He was a produce merchant and his business, was J Blieden And Co., Randfontein, district of Krugersdorp. Following the outbreak of the Anglo Boer War he and his family left the Transvaal Republic and went to the Cape Town. Upon his return after the war he applied for compensation. It lists stocks that were abandoned and the value of his property. The documents were submitted to the Nationale Bank, Randfontein for safe keeping but the building was destroyed by fire and the bank safe could not be opened.
