Photograph of Charlie Epstein circa 1929 seated in front of the Garies hotel (run by the Rosenberg family). Charlie was born 1912 in Ladismith, Western Cape. He left school at the age of 15 to help earn a living for his family. He worked as a shop assistant/clerk in Namaqualand.
