Barsel Family, "80th Birthday of Esther"

Photograph of the 80th birthday cake for Comrade Esther (Esther Barsel) who was a member of the Communist Party. A party in her honour was thrown by the South African Communist Party, in Johannesburg in 2004. The cake has the emblem of the party on the right hand corner and the icing is coloured red.

Barsel Family, "Barsel Family and Nelson Mandela 2"

Photograph of Esther Barsel and the former South African President, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela. She was a member of the South African Communist Party. In 1965 she was sentenced in the Bram Fischer Treason Trial to 3 years imprisonment at Barberton Prison, followed by house arrest for 5 years. This photograph was taken at the Memorial Service for Anthony Sampson on the 8th February 2005 at the Nelson Mandela Foundation, Houghton, Johannesburg.

Barsel Family, "Constitution Hill Ether Barsel Instalation"

Photograph of the Esther Barsel installation at the Women's Jail, Constitution Hill (The Fort). This forms part of the Women's Jail permanent exhibition at Constitution Hill (The Fort). The exhibition includes written and audio exhibitions that depict the incarcerations of Daisy de Melker, Barbara Hogan, Esther Barsel, Violet Weinberg and Sheila Weinberg.

Barsel Family, "Handwritten Note "

Handwritten note stating that there were eight photographs taken of Hymie Barsel and his daughters Sonia, Linda and Merle, which were sent to Esther Barsel, wife and mother in Barberton Prison. She was a member of the South African Communist Party. In 1964 she was arrested and subsequently tried with 13 others in the Bram Fischer Treason Trial. In 1965 she was sentenced to three years imprisonment at Barberton Prison from 1965-1967.
