Photograph of Caple Caplan's wife, Florrie (nee Paepert), holding their 2-year-old son, Victor. When sending the picture to someone she wrote the following: "In this one he was crying for Caple, and I am mocking him, so we both look a treat, but I'm sending it to you for fun. Don't we look comical here?"

Letter written on the 22nd of September 1913 by M Caplan (Mick) to thank a friend for the condolences received with regards to the death of his older brother. A personalised letterhead featuring details about the Caplan brothers' store (H. Caplan and Bros.) can be seen at the top.

Photograph of successful Namaqualand businessman, Joseph Dembitzer, with two of his sons, Harry and Hillel. *discrepancy between description in Kokerboom book which says the sons pictured are Harry and Mannie, and archives which say the second son can't be Mannie and instead must be Hillel (nickname Hely).

Photograph of a "good-for" coin minted in 1897 and engraved with the name "J. Dembitzer". The coin value was "6 D." (sixpence) and "payable for goods", meaning that it could be taken to Dembitzer's store(s) and swapped in exchange for products.

Photograph of a large group of uniformed men with rifles (Town Guards) who formed part of the Boer War Troops. Joseph Dembitzer was a guardsman during the Anglo-Boer War (1899-1902) and is one of the men seen in this image.

Photograph of the wedding of Jacob Frank and Pauline (Polly) Barnett. Pauline was the daughter of Rosalia and Isaac Barnett (brother to Henry Barnett, local storeowner).
