Rev L Baran succeeded Rev Kassel as Chazan and teacher in the Talmud Torah in 1944 and Rabbi SD Grawitzky as the Woodstock Talmudical Society's lecturer. He had previously served in Mossel Bay and Boksburg, and after leaving Woodstock, served the Rustenburg Hebrew Congregation.
